  1. 1. Comply with the General Montana Real Estate License Requirements:
    • Be at least 18 years of age to obtain a real estate license in Montana.
    • Must have received credit for completion of 2 years of full curriculum study at an accredited high school or equivalent.
  2. 2. Meet the Educational Real Estate License Requirements in Montana - Enroll Today
    • Tenth grade education or higher
    • Seventy hours of additional pre-licensing instruction from a real estate school approved by the Board
  3. 3. Take the Montana real estate license exam:
    • Pass the Montana Real Estate Examination with a score 70% or better.
    • Pass the Montana Real Estate license exam within the past 12 months.
  4. 4. Get broker affiliation
    • Must be employed or under contract with a licensed Montana broker with a supervising broker endorsement.
  5. 5. Submit Montana real estate license application.
    • The following documents and additional forms are required in addition to the basic application. Exam results of passing the Montana state portion of the Salesperson examination. Official license verification from states and jurisdictions in which the applicant holds or has ever held a professional license of any type.
    • In cases when you have been disciplined in the past, include a detailed explanation on the event(s) and documentation from the source (licensing board, federal agencies/programs, or civil/criminal court proceedings) such as initiating/charging documents, final disposition/judgement documents, etc.
